I just purchased 2 loksound select decoders for gp38-2s. The decoder number is 73426. The box says Loksound Select 6 AUX. The decoder has the 8 pin plug and 8 wires going to all the pins. But there are 5 additional wires. I know the two brown ones are for the speaker. Then there is a green, violet and a purple wire. I believe the green and violet wires are for two additional aux lighting outputs or effects. But I can't find any info on the purple wire, and the Loksound site isn't much help. A Loksound Select 6 AUX decoder is nowhere to be found on their site, nor is any decoder schematic showing the five extra wires. And entering the decoder number 73426 is no help either. Does anyone know what the purple wire is for? Thanks.
I think you meant red, green, purple and two brown (violet and purple are the same color). The green and red come off the opposite end of the decoder compared to the rest.
The green and red coming off the opposite end are the AUX3 and AUX4 outputs. The purple wire is the AUX2 wire (the green on the 8-pin plug is AUX1) and the two brown wires are the speaker.
Mark.

Seems to me that all the Select decoders are covered by the same instruction manual. Does the diagram on page 11 of the Select user manual help you at all?

(scroll down and download the LokSound Select manual)
I use the Aux-6 mainly, and as Maxman and Mark comment, the 2nd Gen Select Fig 1 on pg 11 shows the Aux 6, which is the shrink-wrapped, non-micro current release. The 2nd Gen shows the brown speaker wires at the end with lots of wires, whereas the 1st Gen (Fig 3) has the brown wires at the end with fewer wires. The violet wire indeed is the Aux 2, easy to identify. The two at the other end, I recall, are more magenta (vs. pink) and greenish (vs. turquoise) on the ones I've purchased lately. They are for Aux 3 & 4, respectively.
The decoder number is probably 73400, where the 73426 is the specific sound file your vendor loaded. Where I purchase, they put a sticker with the sound file number on the box after loading the file I want.
