Thanks, Mark. Guess you have to be there (here). Stop by some time when you are out on the west coast and I will try to convince you. Or if you have the chance, stand beside a real steam loco pounding by and try to imagine a model of it in a room....how much sound would be real? Take a look at my other videos on this topic if you wish. But you are right in one respect. When I put the diesels through the subwoofers my wife doesn't like having to straighten all the pictures back on the walls upstairs.
Interesting concept. Two things immediately concern me. First, is that I wouldn't want "room filling sound", and second, for steam engines, I even dislike speakers in the tender as the sound in a steam engine comes from the front of a real locomotive. Installing the sound in a car behind the engine makes the sound even more disconnected - especially when viewed up close.
Not putting down your efforts .... just not my cup-o-tea ....
