All my Bachmann steamers have LED's with the resistors on the PC board. Unfortunately the resistance is quite high and makes for a dim headlight I have read in different forums over the past few years. Over 2k on a couple steamers I had.

If it were not for the resistors, all you have to do is remover the caps. The two inductors are a moot point without the caps. Some think the inductors that are green are resistors.

I worked with LC networks over the years.

Older Spectrum 2-8-0's had light bulbs. Some replace with LED's. Some like the effect of a real light bulb and put a 22 ohm, ½ watt resistor in series with one lead to protect against voltage surges which is what really shortens light bulb life.

The plug between the engine and tender on my bachmann 2-8-0 broke. I bought a 6 pin mini connector from tcs as a replacement. Can I just directly wire to a jst harness and attach the decoder? Do I need the tender board for anything? I plan on adding resistors inline for the lights. I just seems redundant if I'm remove the stock wiring harness.
