You will have to turn the power pack up a little higher than with a DC only loco. Nature of the beast.

Rich.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

Whenever I purchase a new DCC ready locomotive, before installing the decoder, I run the loco on a dedicated DC track under DC power.

Most modern decoders are all dual-mode and will run on DC or DCC. That feature can be turned off in the decoder though, in which case it will just sit there on DC track. It won't hurt it.

Is it safe to run a DCC engine on a DC test track to test operability?
