Some say it's a waste of time to install an 86$ decoder in a 10$ loco
>But<
It was the only EMD loco i had with out a decoder already installed
And i really just wanted a test bed
I have 4 P2k with QSI Sound but didn't want to swap with them
So i took an old BB Athearn off the shelf and did the install
Not a lot of room for a speaker so i mounted a sugar cube on the outside underneath behind the fuel tank
The sintered wheels give poor pick up so i decided to ad a dummy loco to increase pickup and house a bigger speaker I used a TCS 6 pin connector Which when up right is hard to see I swapped the plastic wheels for Live drive wheels and Wired the front and back trucks together Then wired the red wire to the front truck then wired the black wire to the frame on both locos and use the black wire from the TCS 6 pin plug to connect the 2 I added weight (under the blue tape) to improve rail contact The blue and yellow wires were used for the rear light and the orange and gray will be used for the speaker which will be mounted where the white foam board is located in the photo
