I have a Powercab system I bought about two years ago. Yesterday I hooked it up to run some trains, and noticed something with the LCD screen was wrong.
Also strange: at some points the screen would go blank (though still have the backlight) and I couldn't control anything, nor could anything I did make the screen reappear. Unplugging and plugging the unit back in usually fixed that problem for a few minutes, and then it would happen again.
I take good care of my stuff, so it wouldn't have been dropped or exposed to water or temperature extremes...
Is this a known/common problem with NCE units? Is there a fix, or are the internals shot?
Any help is appreciated.Thanks,
Acela

Looks like the display needs replaced.
Call NCE tomorrow.
I agree. Looks like the display needs to be replaced.
I lost the backlight on mine after about almost two years. I had registered my Power Cab when I purchased it. NCE replaced it for free. Your mileage may vary.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
After a few years of operation I have sometimes lost the back light but discovered it was not a problem with the Cab but the connection at the panel. After a lot of connecting and disconnecting the plug can loosen up in the panel. You might try a new cable before sending the Cab back.
