I have had only one Athearn Roundhouse 4-4-0 and it came with MRC sound decoder. I ripped it out and put in a SoundTraxx Mini. Been about five or six years ago. Don't remember any issues with programing right now.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

Can the NCE system not read MRC decoders?

At one time MRC decoders did not support CV readback, no matter which command station one might have.  I think some of the newer ones do, but without knowing exactly which MRC decoder you have makes it hard to look up the decoder manual.

Athearn 4-4-0 with MRC decoder?

I finally got my program track operating and tested. I put the 4-4-0 on the track and set the NCE hammerhead to program mode. The speaker began buzzing!

I tried to read the manufacturer code by pressing the "1" button but the display said it could not read the CV. I have a program booster hooked up and powered.

Can the NCE system not read MRC decoders?
