Wahthers DCC turntable programming woes
Posted by Blind Bruce on Friday, February 20, 2015 2:37 PM

Newer DCC version of turntable is misbehaving. Up to now, I have been using only one approach track (track 1). Now I am trying to add another approach track and the controls do not seem to follow the instructions. I have "cal"ed and "reset" but track 2 will not program. The last thing that happened was when I call ed again, the TT started clockwise at twice the normal speed and kept going until I shut the power off.

What is the correct procedure to add a track 2?

Bruce,

Stops 1 and 2 are set at the factory and cannot be changed. Stop 2 will always be 180 degrees from stop 1.

One of the things I had a bit of trouble getting my mind around when programming stops is that each track actually uses two of the electronic stops. One stop is for one end of the TT bridge. The other is for the bridge's opposite end.

I have three in/out tracks, six radial roundhouse tracks and one radial track to the machine shop. I wound up, for TT operating purposes, designating these as tracks 10 thru 19 to stop the cabin end of the TT bridge at each respective track and 20 thru 29 to stop the other bridge end at each respective track. In esence, the first stop is either stop 10 or 20 depending upon which end of the bridge I want to stop at that track. The next one is either 11 or 21, etc.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Roger. It does clear up a few things but.....

Be specific as to which buttons to push to establish track 3 (4). I can't seem to get it right.

Bruce,

When programming the electronics are such that each stop programmed is assigned the next available stop. For instance, let's say you have not programmed any steps. The TT comes from the factory with stops 1 & 2 already set (and unchangeable). You proceed to pargram a stop. It will be assigned #3. The next stop you program will be assigned #4, and so on. Simple enough, so far.

You cannot skip stop numbers. But I told you that I have my track stops numbered 10-19 and 20-29. So how did I skip 3 thru 9? Answer: I didn't. I programmed in stops #3 thru 9 where there are no tracks. The bridge will only stop at stops requested through the control box. I have no reason to request #3 thru 9 so the bridge doesn't stop at any of those "ghost" stops.
