I use an MRC Railpower 1370 power supply which provides 15 DC volt output. I use it to power about 15 Tortoises.

For the DC power supply shown in Rich's diagram, I use a wall-wart with a 9 volt output.  You can use slightly higher or lower voltage, but I like the speed of point movement best at about 9 volts.  The same power supply can drive a lot of Tortoise machines.

thorpu

I have a circuitron tortouis 6000 switch machine and need how to wire just to operate the throwbar for now.

Just connect wires to the outermost terminals (#1 and #8) of the Tortoise and connect the other ends of the two wires to a DPDT switch.

The Tortoise Instruction Sheet shows exactly how to do it.  The DPDT switch solution is the first of the three solutions illustrated in the instruction sheet.
