When you are done running a loco, make sure the speed is 0 nad all functions are off. Press Loco, Exit. This will let the loco slot be cleared so next time you select a loco, it can use that slot and you should never see a slot=max message again. In the meantime, look in the back of the book for OpSw settings to clear all slots or just reset your whole system.

you were right! It is a QSI and sounds great. I bought both A & B units at the LHS as Pre-owned. Supposedly they were only run once. They were in mint condition. All I know is the sound is excellent!

151 is ESU, 113 is QSI, 141 is Soundtraxx.
Far as I know, QSI is the only one with a verbal readback. F10 tells it to say the current status. Multiple presses of F6 are used to start it back up. If it's saying 'disconnect' or 'standby', you press F6 a total of 4 times - on-off, on-off and it should return to normal. If it's normal, you use multiple presses of F9 to go into various states of shutdown.

Edit: Mark, the early Intermountain F's came with QSI.
For starters, that's not an ESU decoder. ESU decoders do not use audible reports like that. I'm not even certain Soundtraxx does. QSI does, but I don't know how a QSI decoder would have gotten in there.
Do a read of CV8 and see what value it gives you back.

I have a Inter-Mountain Diesel with ESU sound decoder and in the process of programming I've managed to "lock it up".
Originally it was set to factory setting "03" and I changed the numbers, which it accepted and operated on. I hit the function "10" button and the diesel squacked out "ID 6515 disconnected" I hit this button several more times and got the same recording. Then I throttled up and the sound woul rev up but no movement. I then started hitting other buttons and the function 10 button again and I heard "ID 6515 Standby" and the engine got a bit quieter and idled but no movement or increase in sound when I throttled up...
What have I done and how do I un do it???
I cant find the manual and the manual on line is not helping me.
