Thanks for the information as you two confirmed the problem I suspected.
I changed the function output of that decoder as per your information and everything works as I want.

Yup, stuck on = blown function 'output'. The surge when it blew the LED without a resistor is usually enough to blow out the transistor on the function as well.

That's usually an indicator of a damaged function output.
If you have any remaining function outputs available, connect the front light to it and re-map it to be the headlight.

I installed a NCE P2K-SR decoder in a RS-27 Proto 2000 locomotive a month ago and when I installed it I made the mistake of not installing resistors to the LED's with the locomotive and I burnt out the LED's. I installed a pair of LED's today with resistors and the lights work but I have a problem with the front light and that I cannot turn it off. It stays on all the time regardless of direction, turning light off/on with my NCE throttle. I use Decoder Pro and reset the decoder to factory default, put on the track and the front light never turns off. I configured the decoder lights to how I like to run them and still nothing changes. The rear light works just as it is suppose to but not the front.
Any thoughts why I cannot get the front light to work properly?
Thinking I have a damaged function 1 of my decoder but not sure.
