Not if it gets released from the JMRI throttle first. There should never be a steal indication if the address is properly released from one throttle before trying to pick it up on another one.

Exactly, and the same is true if it is dispatched properly from the Zephyr.  That's why I said "may" and you said "not if"--lol.  The point I was making was to help the guy understand what was going on more in depth not just help him at one single level.

when you try to use it with the zephyr again it may ask you to steal it?  If so, select yes.   The base unit links the loco address to a throttle.

You have the loco address still seelcted on teh Zephyr, so the two throttles are fighting one another.

Before selecting the loco address on teh JMRI throttle, select it on the Zephyr console. Make sure the throttle is at stop, put the direction lever in brake, and make sure all the functions are turned off. The press the Loco button, and Exit. Now select the loco on the JMRI throttle and it should be ok.

JMRI Throttle Not Working
Posted by bdasa on Thursday, October 30, 2014 11:50 AM

I bought a Digitrax PR3 to set up a LocoNet with my Windows 8 computer and Digitrax Zephyr Xtra. I installed the driver software and firmware per instructions and everything seemed to work fine.

When using the throttle, the selected loco runs for a few seconds then the throttle shuts down to 0. I de-selected the estop timer in Preferences but that didn't work. I tried usiing WiThrottle on my iPhone with similar results (loco stops but throttle remains at position selected).

What is causing this? How do I fix it? I'm just getting started with JMRI and would like to use WiThrottle instead of purchasing extra throttles.
