I am starting out on a practice layout and have a question about DCC wiring. I am using Kato Unitrack and currently have multiple feeders fed into my Digitrax Zephyr via the 3-way connectors Kato makes for their power supplies. Everything is run above the table until I start on the finished product.
When connecting track to the buss wires, is it acceptable to use the Kato power feeding tracks rather than soldering feeder wires to the joints? I could snip the Kato connectors and tie them into the buss using suitcase connectors. Using these may seem not very cost effective but I have a fair amount of them already. I guess I could even use the current wiring method but have them run under the table instead of above.
Sorry if this has been asked already; I haven't figured out how to search forums yet.
That's how I do it. Just connect the Kato feeder track wires to your bus. connect them by whatever means you are comfortable with. When I wired MB Klein's N scale store display layout I used only Kato wires, plugs, and extension cables. They told me I had to use "off the shelf" for everything on the layout. It has been running DCC since day one with no issues.
