Might I suggest that you pose your question over on the Garden Railways Magazine forum in the Battery Power / Radio Control / Live Steam area instead of here? I know there are users on that forum with ProCabR experience for outdoor use.
The ProCabR throttles are the same, whether it is one that comes with the 10 Amp PowerHouse system or purchased individually.
Litchfield Station in Glendale, Arizona offers an improved ProCabR throttle with a built-in charger and rechargeable batteries.
The Pro cab R that comes with the 10 amp system. As I stated in my original post, I have a G-scale outdoor layout.
Which wireless cab are you asking about -- the ProCabR or GWireCab?
If you mean a ProCabR for use with the PowerHouse 5 or 10 Amp system, the ProCabR has a range of approximately 50 feet indoors, depending on the location of your receiving antenna(s), on our indoor HO scale club layout.
For G-scale outdoors, I use only AirWire receivers and battery power, so I have no idea how reception would be for something different.
The NCE GWireCab for AirWire equipped locomotives has adjustable power output and can control a locomotive up to 100 feet away.
Does anyone know the approximate range for the wireless cab? I'm considering purchasing a new NCE System for my outdoor G-scale RR. I've been unable to find this info anywhere.
