MTH BURNT UP
Posted by Roadie on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 6:32 PM

Just had a MTH decoder go out on a HO sd70ACe with sound, what is a good sound decoder that will fit in this locomotive without any changes to the shell.
thanks

My vote would go to a Loksound decoder. You would want file number 73425 as it has the correct air start for the SD70ACE. You can listen to a sound sample here ....

I haven't actually done that conversion, but the Select decoder is no bigger than any others, and if you are really concerned, the Loksound Micro is one of the smallest available and will still work fine in your engine.

Roadie:

The Loksound Select decoder measures 1.18" x .59" x .27". Measure the MTH decoder and see how they compare.
