Tsunami startup at step 23
Posted by faraway on Monday, August 25, 2014 2:21 PM

I have got two Bachmann H0 diesel engines (GP7 and RS3) with the values sound Tsunami decoder.

I wonder why both engines start moving exactly at step 23 out of 128. The sound startup nicely at step 1.

I read the recommended procedure with CV2,3,4 = 0 and then start with CV209/210 to get a smooth start. Incrementing CV209 make a small difference and CV210 has an influence how smooth the engine starts.

But whatever values CV209/210 are set to the motor start happens at the transition from step 22 to step 23.

Any clue?

ps. the start "jump" at step 23 in not perfect but acceptable. I just wonder about the "fixed" location at step 23.

CV2 is the one you need to be adjusting to get the locomotive to start moving at a lower throttle setting.

Sorry, forgot to mention CV2 is set to 0. That was the easy oneWink

But might be the customized Bachmann value sound Tsunami decoders CV209 and CV210 are protected like some others? They are shipped with a setting of CV209=80, CV210=8. SoundTraxx default values are 25/20. A fixed and overwrite protected value of CV209 = 80 might explain the behavior.

If it starts moving at step 23 you need to increase CV 2!

Reinhard,

Cacole is right. I would adjust CV2 up until you get the engines to start at speed step one then you can use CV 209 and 210 to smooth out the slow speed operation. After that you can add the momentum back in with CV 3 and 4.

Gentlemen, thanks for insisting to increase CV2. I was stuck thinking in one way Bang Head

The engines start moving at step 1 if CV2 = 8. It set CV2 = 5 to give the diesel motor sound a small advantage.
