That recent thread you are referring to were for the factory installed Loksound decoders in Atlas engines. For some unknown reason, different manufacturers insist on having their decoders set up slightly different - makes things a real pain sometimes to decipher.

For your Intermountain engine, your need to set the following ....

CV31 = 16, CV32 = 2

----------------------

CV419 =  16

This will have the sound off at power up, and will go into start up sequence when F8 is turned on.

Mark.

Intermountain SD40-2 with Loksound question
Posted by Marty C on Thursday, August 21, 2014 12:13 AM

I purchased an HO Intermountain SD40-2 with a Loksound select decoder. When the track is powered the engine goes through its start up procedure whether it is selected or not. Since this is my first Loksound my question is there CV settings that will keep it silent unless selected? I have gone through the downloaded manual and have not found an answer. I use decoderpro and have not found anything on the sound panel that would seem to address the question. I also tried the settings in the recent thread of CV31 = 16, CV32=2 and CV 403=16 but that did not change anything. I know I can shut it down with function 8 after it starts but I really would prefer it to stay quiet until it is selected. By the way it is a great running engine and except for the start up issue I really like the Loksound decoder. I'm using an NCE procab with an Sb5.

Thanks,

Marty C
