It might help, too, if you change the value in CV29 to turn off DC operations mode in the decoder.
excellent suggestions. il run some test this weekend, but the best thing will obviously be just getting the wiring finished!

Easy enough to test, if this happens regularly. Try first taking the problem loco off the rails, then disconnect the DCC system. Connect it before putting the loco on the rails. Less likely to get random power blips that way. If you can shut off track power with Lenz, do that first, shouldn;t have to take the loco off the rails. Same when reconnecting it, if it's like others you should be able to set it so that when it first powers up, the track power is off. Turn track power on, and start running.
Whichever way works so that there is no DCC power to the rails as the loco it taken off and put on. See if that helps the memory scramble problems.

Just maybe when you disconnect the clip leads, you touch the track once or twice again and that might cause a power surge.
With the hardwire connection, you have a different situation.The DCC leads never move. The system turns completely. No off, on, oops, off now.

I am in the process of wiring my layout and it doesn't have permanent power yet, but when my grandson comes over I just alligator clip my Lenz DCC system up so he can see and hear the train running. When done, I disconnect it again. Sometimes when I reconnect the power, my BLI Sd40-2 doesn't respond correctly, if at all, though the Bachmann Consolidation never seems to have this problem. Normal for the loco, the DCC, or abnormal all around? Once I'm hard-wired, I don't want to have this problem when I shut down power to the whole layout. Thanks!
