Older Broadway Limited NW-2 Issue
Posted by flyn96 on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 12:47 PM

I bought a NW-2 on ebay that has 8 pin dcc ready. I plugged in a decoder and was able to read the decoder and change the address. However when I went to get the loco moving by advancing the throttle my NCE Power Cab shut down as if detecing a short and the loco obviously didn't move. I assume there is probably a short somewhere. Does anyone have experience with a Boradway limited or recommend a good starting point? I'm pretty comfortable soldering so I feel ok tearing down to find short. Just wondered if anyone else has had this issue or recommendations.

Thanks

Did you try running the engine on DC first before you installed the decoder ? Your ebay special may have had something wrong with it from the get-go.

Next step would be to remove the decoder (and reinstall the dummy plug, if it had one) and try it on DC again. If it works on DC, there's something wrong with the decoder or the decoder harness.
