Yep, that's what it was alright!
...thanks again for your help!

Ken,
That could help. I would have added one to my post but I have not figured out how to do that yet. We all learn as we explore the various challenges of DCC.
All the best,

Gentlemen, thanks for the feedback. I'll try some of your ideas later on after I get home from work.
Marty, I already have that radio button checked [on the Speed Table pane]. It works perfectly with all my non-sound decoders, I just can't get it the Tsunami to respond to the changes. Maybe later on I should post some screen shots so you guys might be able to see what I'm doing wrong.
One other thing I forgot to mention is that the info in my post is for programming on a programming track. Don't fprget to make sure the decoder pro is in the program mode. That selection is at the bottom right.
I'm not sure what system you are using with decoder pro but with my NCE if you go to the speed table pane on the decoder pro for that engine you can select at the top "user defined speed table" from the drop down menu. Don't forget to check the box above that for using speed tables. Then you can manipulate the various speed steps to get the desired effect. CV 29 will be changed automatically. Additionally in that drop down menu are a number of packaged tables you can select. I know this might sound a little complicated but once you play with it a little it really is a simple process.
Good Luck,
With most decoders, setting the speed table bit in CV29 selects the custom speed table. With Tsunamis, there is an additional speed table CV (25) that tells which speed table to use, so you have to set the bit in CV29 to enable speed tables AND set CV25 to the speed table you want to use. There are several logarithmic and exponential options, but for a custom table set CV25 to 16.
Are you resetting CV 29 to tell the decoder to use your custom speed table after creating it? If you don't change CV 29, the decoder will continue to use the default settings.
If you're using a long (4 digit) address, 28/128 speed steps, normal motor direction, and DC operation turned off, you need to set CV 29 to a value of 50 to tell the decoder to use your custom speed table.
I recently learned how to use DecoderPro to speed-match my locos, but now I'm trying to do that with a Tsunami-equipped Athearn Genesis GP9 and it totally ignores the speed table settings. I remember reading somewhere that Tsunamis have to be handled in a slightly different manner, but they still can be speed-matched in DecoderPro.
Can somebody tell me the "secret handshake" to make a Tsunami diesel recognize a DecoderPro speed table? I've already tried Google searches and they didn't turn up anything useful...
