Thanks cacole,

I'll set down at my work bench and take a close look at the rods , etc.

Check the side rods to insure that none of them are bent and hanging up on a bolt head, which sounds like what has happened to yours.

I have installed decoders into a half dozen IHC steam locomotive models ranging from the 2-6-0 Mogul to their 2-10-2.  For non-sound installs, there is room in the boiler for a small decoder such as a TCS M-1 mounted to the top of, or directly in front of, the motor.

For sound, if your tender has electircal pickup for its' backup light but there is no electrical connection between it and the locomotive, a dual-decoder install is what I used -- a TCS M-1 in the locomotive and a sound-only decoder in the tender.

Their last release, the 2-10-2, was the only one that was "DCC Ready."  I initially had a Tsunami in it, but recently changed to a TCS WOW! Sound decoder.

IHC HO 4-8-2 PRR Mountain steam engine

HI everyone,

I recently purchased a very nice  IHC HO  4-8-2 Mountain steam engine on Ebay. It pulls  very well, and is in excellent shape like brand new. However when I try to run it in reverse it starts to move, then stops and makes a buzzing sound.

I want to convert it to DCC with sound.

Is there any way I can solve this problem myself?

I really hate to send it back as these steam engines are hard to come by anymore.

What dual decoder woud be a good setup in this engine? I am running an NCE DCC system.

Thanks in advance !

BY the way I have about 25 steam engines I would klike to eventually convert to DCC.

Is there anyone on these forums who does this work and what woud the rates be ?

By the way I haven't been on here in quite some time, so I will be browsing around to see what's new and who is still around.
