I followed the wiring as per Tsunami installation guide, hence the 680ohm resistors. Will sit down with my volt meter and see what it comes back with. May just have to redo the installation.

GN1000 has built in resistors for 1.5v bulbs...as per Athearn. You will need to work around this.

Yes, what David said. You will need to use the 14+ hole for powering the lights. The positive lead(s) goes to that tiny hole and the negative lead goes to the tabs on each end. FYI, the oval metal tab is positive and the rectangular metal tab is negative.

That was my thought. Unfortunately, this does not appear to be the case as when I repeated my checks I touched 2 sets of contacts with a pair of long nose pliers (with insulated handles) LEDs did not light up I repeated my test with a pair of tweezers and they lit up. All the above only happens for the front and rear lights. The ditch don't light up at all. Having let the air clear, I'll go back through it all hoping not to prove Einsteins theory of madness.

You may have a cold solder joint somewhere.  Also, if the lighting connections are just clips or using those plastic compression covers to make the connection, solder the wire to the decoder instead.  That should take care of the problem.

My first thought is one of the connections in the lighting circuit is not solid. When the resister is touched the wiring is moved just enough to complete the circuit. I would re-check all of the solder joints and other connections in the lighting circuit. Good luck!

MTH SD70ace with GN1000 install issue
Posted by CAMERON LARKING on Friday, April 25, 2014 11:20 PM

Have installed a GN1000 into an Mth SD70ace (DCC ready). Only problem is the lights don't operate. Used 680ohm resistors as had been suggested. Checked all connections and found everything okay but noted that when I  touched a resistor unintentionally with my finger the LED came on, then went out when I removed my finger. I checked that I wasn't seeing things and placed the loco in reverse and the same thing happened. Have gone cross-eyed going through the Tusnami User Guides. Any ideas would be appreciated.
