I ALSO HAVE TWO KATO NSCALE P42S, AND I EQIPPED THEM WITH THE SDN144KOA. I PLAN TO USE NANO LEDS AND ELIMINATE THE PLASTIC LIGHT TUBE. ALSO NANO LEDS FOR THE RED REVERSE LIGHTS ON THE FRONT OF THE UNIT. I WOULD THINK THE INCANDESCENT LIGHT WOULD CREATE TOO MUCH HEAT AND CAUSE OVER HEATING PROBLEMS FOR THE DECODER. I WOULD POST A VIDEO OR PHOTO BUT I DON'T LIKE THE RED TAPE ON THIS FORUM ON THE RULES TO DO IT
I WATCH ALOT OF HOW TO VIDEOS ON YOU TUBE, JUST TYPE WHAT YOU WANT AND PRESTO, YOU CAN WATCH DITCHLIGHT INSTALLATION RIGHT IN YOUR OWN LIVING ROOM
I installed ditch lights on my N-scale Kato P42 as per the directions that came with the DN163K0a decoder (I used the small incandescent bulbs). I tested them with the body shell removed and they work great. But with the shell in place the flashing is not visible. All I can figure is that the headlight LED bleeds through the ditch light pipes drowning out the ditch lights. I have spent WAY too much time trying to fix this, including painting the tops and bottoms of the light pipes black and carefully measuring the positions of the incandescent bulbs to make sure they line up with the light pipes, to no avail. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
