Hello All,

I don't really like the sound systems in Lionel or MTH locomotives so can I change those out with a Tsunami decoder? I am thinking about a TSU1000 decoder. Could this be a possible solution?

Thanks,

Nathan

Short answer - no.

This assumes you are talking 3 rail O, and not HO.  Tsunami decoders are for use with DCC, a command control system that is an NMRA standard.  Both Lionel and MTH O gauge have their own command control systems (TMCC and DCS respectively) that are incompatible with DCC.

Second issue is current handling capability.  Even if you switched all your locomotives and controls to DCC (possible, but not cost-effective), the Tsunami decoders do not handle enough current for an O gauge locomotive.  You would have to find DCC sound decoders capable of handling more current.
