Much better running than the Bachmann Northern I had back when I was in N scale. At the time, the most expensive loco I had, saved up for it, and ended up being hugely disappointed with how poorly it ran.
Just FYI, what you are calling piano wire is magnet wire. Piano wire is the thicker steel stuff you use for turnout linkages, it bends but even the thinner sizes would just flip the loco or tender off the track around a curve, it's very springy.
