Has anyone tried the new Digitrax Sound FX decoders? The price is right. But do they work? I found no mention of bells and whistles on their website. Just something about "4 similtaneous voices".
I also would appreciate any info on the Bachmann Sound Value decoders. I already have a bunch of Tsunamis and Soundtrax and MRC decoders.
Stay away from Digitrax sound decoders. They're crap. I have had two, and both were not loud enough. You can find better alternatives.
The Bachmann sound decoders work well.
You didn't have the new ones. They addressed the complaints.

The old Digitrax sound decoders were 8 bit with a 32 ohm speaker. The provided sound was not very good. If you had a P#-3 you cound download sound projects into the decoder that were far better. I have 3 Kato SD40-2's that have the correct sound files in them and they are quite good. The original sound files were not very loud.
Digitrax released a new sound decoder that is 16 bit and included a decent 8 ohm speaker/enclosure. It comes with quite a few very good sound files in it, and can have custom sound files downloaded using the PR-3. I saw/heard on at a train show, and was impressed. The price is right, and I have ordered one for testing.
The Bachmann sound decoder is an OEM Tsunami and may not be available seperately.
