Mark.
I have 5 of the aftermarket Loksound Select decoders in steam engines and installed an EMD version in a friends loco. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the sound quality and blown away by the motor control of the Loksound over the Tsunamis. You may not need the PTB-100 for programming the Loksounds. I do all my programming with my old Power Cab and never needed a booster.
Downloading the manuals from the ESU web site is helpful. The Selects are next generation sound decoders that act differently from the old Tsunamis. http://www.esu.eu/en/downloads/instruction-manuals/digital-decoders/

I pray every day I break even, Cause I can really use the money!
I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
Happy New Year to all.
I see that Kato is offering their HO scale F40PH loco direct from the factory with an ESU-Loksound sound decoder installed. How good is the sound quality of one of these decoders?
I have 2 other freight locos that have Soundtraxx Tsunami sound decoders installed in them. How would the ESU sound compare to Soundtraxx?
Lastly, I have a Digitrax Super Chief DCC system and also purchased the PTB-100 programming track booster so that I could program the locos with the Soundtraxx decoders. Will the PTB-100 also be able to program a Loksound decoder?
Thanks in advance,
Mark
