What do I need to use JMRI Decoder Pro
Posted by Omaha53 on Monday, December 23, 2013 3:51 PM

I have been trying to figure out what I need to use Decoder Pro to program my HO locomotives.I have a Digitrax DCS50 system. I have several locomotives with QSI or MRC sound decoders. I have one Bachmann DCC locomotive with no sound. I also have a computer with Windows 7. What is the best way to interface the computer and a programming track? I have read quite a bit of the JMRI web site but I still not sure what I need.

You need either a Digitrax PR3 or a RR-CirKits Locobuffer-USB to connect your computer to the Zephyr. Also a Loconet cable to connect between the interface and one of the Loconet jacks on the Zephyr.

PR3 can also be a standalone programmer (not connected to the Zephyr), the Locobuffer seems to be less trouble to install for WIndows 7 and 8.
