Is it me?
Posted by hobo9941 on Friday, December 13, 2013 10:50 PM

Is it me, or is the Athearn RS3 Decoder Installation thread missing the Reply button?

30 views and 0 replies, and I can't find a Reply button anywhere on the post.

Must be you. I see it just fine and it works.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

Hobo9941,

It may be your browser. Hover your mouse around the bottom right where you believe the reply button should be, when the pointer turns into a hand, you found reply, click on it and you should be good to go. It will not work for quick reply though.

It's the forum software, not your browser.  It happens to me too.  I alternate between Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, depending upon my level of frustration with the forum software.  It seems that the most recent post to a given thread is missing the reply boxes at the lower right of the post.  Prior posts to the thread seem to display the reply buttons.  Eventually, the missing reply buttons show up.

Download Firefox for a better Browser. I have been using it for many years. You can import your Favorites list into FF where they are called Bookmarks.

Install Add-Ons, Flashblock to block flash ads and install Adblock Plus.

You should also select No third party cookies in Preferences.

 Many PC users do this.

I have yet to see the reply button (or the menu, or the buttons for the editor or...) missing anywhere since the upgrade, and I use only IE.

Are you fully logged in?  If I log out and then go to the MR site, it comes up with no name (like before I ever registered).  When that happens, there is noway to write or reply to posts.

Good luck,

Richard

Randy:

IE version 10 works fine. IE v11 does not. Since IE insisted on updating my version automatically I went to Firefox. Works fine.

Umm, Firefox and Chrome (especially Chrome) are the ones that update without notification. You are never forced to ugrade IE. CHrome is really bad with that, it will replace your version automatically when you launch it.

If IE11 were forced, I'd have it on all my computers. It's not.

Thanks for all the info and options. I usually see the Reply button. But I did not see it on that particular thread.
