Decoder for Dash 8-40B's?
Posted by O'Ghoul on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 11:08 PM

Hello and happy Turkey Day!

I've got a trio of Trainline 8-40's, one B and two BWs.  I had previously put MRC decoders with 567 sounds into my Trainline GP9s, and for what I paid, I'm pleased.  I was wondering if anyone knew if either MRC makes a decoder, or someone else makes a decent budget sound decoder with the GE 7FDL prime mover.  Ideally, I'd like to put one of these together for my father too.

Thanks in advance!Tim

Frank, that link is flawed.  It lists 81 items, none of which is what the OP is looking for.   Laugh

Loksound makes such a decoder and it is available at MB Klein.

Rich,

No it isn't, he said he's looking for a cheap MRC decoder, you didn't read the part about, GE 7FDL Prime Mover, that is in there and he's looking for cheap, so I gave him what he asked for. I didn't say, there is something better. Smile

Frank,

I read what the OP wrote, you didn't read what I wrote.

I said that the link was flawed.  It lists 81 MRC items.  Which one contains that prime mover sound that the OP is looking for?  The link that I provided lists a decoder with the GE 7FDL prime mover sound.

I guess, at 46%, percent off,you would actually, have to go through, the three,or four page list to find, the one you want, with the Prime Mover, I know there is more than one. I wish when i needed, something, someone, would hand,it to me on a platter and say here it is. Yeah

Frank, give it up.  Loksound produces several decoders with the GE 7FDL prime mover sound effect.  MRC does not, their prime mover sound is generic.

Give what up? The OP, asked for a MRC cheap decoder, I showed him a source. A phone call would probably help him. They do make what is called Universal decoders. I don't understand what the big deal is. So he has two sources now, a cheap one and a not so cheap one. If your way, you think,is better, you should have answered him four days ago, when he first posted. No one did, so I did.

Frank, he asked for a decoder with a GE 7FDL prime mover sound effect.  I gave it to him and then you hijacked the thread by challenging my reply - - -  ad nauseum.
