Anyone proficient in making PECO code 55 turnouts DCC friend?
Posted by Kudlor on Thursday, November 7, 2013 11:50 AM

I'm building a N scale layout using PECO code 55 electrofrog turnouts.  I'm interested in finding someone who if proficient in making these turnouts DCC friendly -- cutting rail gaps, wiring points to stock rails and securing a wire to the frog.

As the code 55 turnouts are difficult for me to solder, cut, etc.  I'm hoping to find someone who could do this for me -- about 8 turnouts.

Anyone interested?

The Peco electrofrog turnouts should be fine DC or DCC no matter what code or scale. You will need insulated joiners at the two frog rails that V out from the frog. Then some feeders past the frog and you should be good to go.

They work fine as-is. Just use appropriate gaps and feeders.

Same here. I use them right out of the box with no modifications. No one in my NTRAK club has ever complained. Actually all of the code 55's are Electrofrogs. Those are more "friendly" then insulfrogs.

Ya, my whole new rebuild is all Peco C55 Electrofrog and including a double crossover.  I am really impressed with the quality and reliability of them.  I haven,t had to modify any at all.  Just keep them clean at the points for sure.  Where I have Tortoise motors I have removed the spring but all the rest are reachable hand throws and I love the spring action.   Doug
