Before you send it back, try giving a sharp hard blow into the funnel. Sometimes fluid can block the output, a quick hard blow into the funnel should fix it if that is the problem.

If you see smoke in the funnel but it doesn't puff, it could be the sensor controlling the smoke unit.. It might need a new one. BLI usually rushes service for warranty work especially when just purchased.

Are you using DC or DCC?  I believe there's a DCC function that turns it on and off, so perhaps you accidentally turned it off with your controller.

Read the instructions that came with the locomotive and see if there's a command to turn the smoke on and off.

Did you add more liquid smoke fluid?

BLI Hudson Smoke Issues - HELP!
Posted by corbs09 on Monday, July 1, 2013 9:06 PM

I bought a BLI Hudson in HO Scale, new in box from an internet retailer. I received it today and everything worked great! After running it for about 5 minutes tonight the smoke stopped "puffing". I can see it built up in the stack, and it just lingers around a bit, but the fan may have stopped working? Loose wire? Anybody else have this issue? Also does anyone know how to open up the Loco? If it's just a loose wire I can take care of it. But I can't know until I get a look inside. Thanks!
