I don't think Soundtraxx ever made a sound only decoder. Try programming the B unit on the main. CV129 is bell volume, CV130 is bell, and CV131 is diesel sound. Range is 0 to 255. The previous owner may have set the bell and horn to 0 sound level. Take the shell off to see how much room is in the B unit. You can fit a 1" speaker and baffle in there but might have to remove some of the weight in the shell. The bigger the speaker and enclosure the better the sound. But try changing the volume first. Try starting at a value of 180.  Joe

Tsunami Sound/Bell, Horn

I have an Athearn F7 B (non-powered) with (I am told, but have not checked to confirm) a "Tsunami by Soundtrax for Atlas/Kato."  The A unit has a motion only decoder-- not sure about manufacturer.   The installation was done about 4 years ago.

Two questions: 1.)  Is it possible that this is a sound-only decoder?  In other words, does/did Soundtrax make such a decoder? and, 2.) How can I activate the horn and bell functions?  The sound is a decent motor sound, albeit not loud or strong, but F1 and F2 fail to engage the bell and horn.  F8 does turn sound on and off.

I use a MRC Prodigy Wireless DCC system.

Also,  the A and B units have different loco numbers, and an attempt to reset the B unit to the same number as the A was not successful.  They are not wired together as the B get track power independently.

Thoughts?
