my method is to give both locos the same long address (6001), but different short addresses, in ths case the A would be 60, and B 61.
doing this allows quick access to one or the other on the main, for adjustment like speed matching or volume, via CV 29, without effecting both
and once finished, just change CV 29 back to four digit address.
I also do this for single locos that have seperate motor and sound/function only decoders
Generally it's best to put each one on the programming track separately. Sometimes if you try to write a CV to two engines at the same time, you can get some wacky results.
You'll certainly need to program one at a time when speed matching them.
If you are always going to runt hem together, give them the same number. My FT A and B are connected with a drawbar, so they most definitely always run together. You can do them both at the same time, although sometimes that fails, so you might want to do them one at a time, just using the saem address.
Or, if you intend to mix and match them with other locos, you'll need to come up with a scheme you cna remember to give each one a unique address, and use the consisting feature to combine whichever ones you want to run together.
