I have PA1 A&B units with the Soundtrax LC in the B unit.
I like the sound of the ALCO when it fires up, But I would like for the engine to rev up before it starts moving. Is there a way to accomplice that? On the settings I have the motor revs at step 3, the loco is moving slowly at that time.
Thanks
Lee
Adjust CV2 start voltage so the engine revs up before the loco starts to move. Also adjust CV3 and CV4: acceleration and deceleration. This helps match the sound of the engine reving up and slowing down with the speed of the loco. This is a trial and error thing. Adjust CV2 first to where you like it, then CV3 and CV4 to where you like them. Keep track of your settings. Joe
This is the primary shortcoming of Soundtraxx decoders, they just don;t do this so simply. QSI and ESU work this way - just add some momentum. Not Soundtraxx. Some say this isn't prototypical, but I've never stood trackside and watched a real train start up where it DIDN'T 'load up' the prime mover before starting to creep away - except possibly a light engine move. That's the beauty of the simple momentum method in QSI and ESU - if you turn the throttle slowly, the loco will walk away without revving, like it has no load. But if you open the throttle quickly, it will rev up and then slowly start moving. Both options, with no resorting to manual notching or activating a different function.
