Lighting Effects on QSI decoder in Heritage 2-8-8-2
Posted by farrellaa on Sunday, January 27, 2013 9:38 AM

I have been playing around with the lighting controls on my P2K 2-8-8-2 with QSI sound decoder from factory. I can't seem to find the settings to have the headlight come on when the power is on the layout, it only comes on when I advance the throttle to at least 6-9 steps. I want the headlight to go dim when in reverse and bright when in forward. There are a lot of selections on the light control using DecoderPro and I just don't seem to know what settings will do this. Any suggestions? I don't have the manual for the loco but downloaded the QSI manual.

If the QSI manual you have downloaded is their technical reference for the particular version of decoder you have, the lighting control CV listing should be indicated in it.

If you're going to rely on Decoder Pro, make sure you have their latest decoder definition files loaded onto your computer and that you have the correct decoder version number selected..

I just downloaded version 3.1? of Decoder Pro and that is what I have been using. The descriptions of the lighting choices is a little confusing and there isn't a definition of what some of the acronyms stand for. Will have to look into the manual and see if there is any info.
