Couple people have put a 750 Tsunami and speaker into a Bachmann Spectrum 0-6-0T.

A LokSound Micro would be a better fit. I use both. The LokSound handles current better than the 750.

I was wondering if this is worth the trouble given that the DCC version isnt that expensive. I have a standard Bachmann 2-6-2 Prarie that I never converted because the cost and trouble does not justify it plus I have 2 other DCC steamers that take its place

Thanks for the replies. I just figured out how to search the forum(new phone, mobile site) looks like I'd be better off buying a DCC version or Proto o-6-0. The one I have is a standard line Bachmann.

I dunno, if you can fit DCC sound and a speaker in a Docksider 0-4-0T, you should be able to do it in a 0-6-0T.

Loksound Micro is a bit smaller than Micro Tsunami, and doesn;t have the heat issues. CR has an even smaller sound decoder, although North American sounds for it might be hard to come by. CT also makes one of the best micro speakers - the 'sugarcube' size ones - that's with the enclosure.

You did not include much info. Spectrum or standard line 0-6-0?

You will not fit a Tsunami and speaker in  15 year old Bachmann 0-6-0 if it is a tank loco.

You might fit a Micro Tsunami and 28mm speaker in the tender, depending on which tender the loco has. The oil tender will be limited to a 14mm x 25mm. I have done one.

I suspect the loco might be a split chassis with both motor contacts connected to each frame half.

How much current the motor draws at 12 VDC will be very important. The Micro is limited to 750 ma.

If I can fit one in an 0-6-0T, and regular 0-6-0 with tender should be CAKEWALK by comparison.

If you have the patience and fortitude, ANYthing is possible !

I just finished installing headlights, tail-lights, DCC and sound with a Stay Alive cap in a hi-rail truck ! Rest assured there was not much room left over. If I could cram all that into an HO truck, I would have no doubts you could fit it all into an 0-6-0 engine. Just have to get really creative with the minimal space you have to work with.

I've installed DCC/sound in a few diesels, but not any steam egines. Question, how difficult would it be to install a Tsunami and speaker in a 15yr old Bachmann 0-6-0?
