PM42 Breakout Board and Jumpers - Directions please
Posted by don7 on Thursday, December 13, 2012 11:40 PM

On my layout I use a Digitrax PM42 to control the 4 Sections (Electrical) on the Layout. It was slow work soldering the various wires to the edge connector. Once it was finished it works great.

One of my friends ordered a Breakout Board for his Digitrax PM42 for his layout. He will only be using the PM42 for electrical districts and has no reverse loops to worry about. He brought the breakout board to show me, it sure beats all of that soldering.

There are two sets of Jumpers adjacent to the 4 Section outputs, and another set adjacent to the Booster inputs, does he need to remove any of the Jumpers from the Breakout Board. There were no instructions with the board so it is hard to tell what the various pairs of jumpers control.

I assume that we leave the jumpers on if we do not intend to use that function at each of the 4 sites?

Dealing with the Booster inputs first: Leave both jumpers ON for a single booster connected to Booster 1.  Remove BOTH jumpers if two boosters are being used.

For each of the four outputs:  remove BOTH jumpers if reversing is not required.

Edit: These instructions are for the Acculites PM42 breakout board.

Thanks,

I sort of wished that I had waited and bought one of these breakout boards, would have saved so much time. I did however, improve my soldering skills.

This board just makes everything so neat.

I agree with you 100%.  I recommend them to everyone.  Personally, they're worth it just for the amount of time saved.
