Maybe someone here can shed some light on this one.
I have a Atlas/Kato C425 that I stuffed the electronics from a BLI RSD-15 into and plopped a new shell on top. It was working fine for months until the other day.
Now when I try to use the horn (every now and then it works as it should) or the smph readback it dies on the spot, and it very rarely (like 1 in about 20 times) dies when switching directions. Other than that it runs great.
I consulted a friend who is pretty versed with QSI, and we tried a version 7 chip in it andreseting it with decoderpro and QSI's programmer. Still the same results.
I haven't tried the hard reset with the magnetic wand yet, but I'm suspecting the board is shot. I'm planning to call BLI and QSI tomorrow. But I don't think it will end to well for my wallet (I mean I have only $75 in this loco, $10 for the drive, $15 for the shell, $50 for the decoder.)
Does anyone have any advice for this one?
Worse case scenario is I'd have to buy another board for it. If that happens I'll probably just stick a motor decoder in it and MU it to my Bowser C636 whenever it shows up.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
