1 - I suspect you are looking at N8034 Ditchlight Simulator?  The instruction sheet indicates that it is setup for DCC operation, but it does include the circuit info for DC operation.  Here is the direct link to the info:

2 - You will need to remove the DC rectifier wiring and hook it up to a DCC function output.

3 - The documentation indicates about 20 ma...

4 - In DC operation, the ditch lights will go on steady when track power is applied.  You will need a 'switch; to ground point 7 to start the 'flashing'.

I hope this helps.  Going to DCC will make this much easier!

Has anybody used a ditch light module from ngineering?  I've got a couple of questions surrounding it.

1.  Will it work on dc?

2.  When I go dcc can I keep it on the locomotive?

3.  How much power goes thru to the bulbs?

4.  How do you operate it on dc?

I have a tyco sd-24 that I am redesigning with ditch lights, real headlights and better electrical pickup.  If it runs better than I'll keep it when I go to dcc and just stick a decoder in it.
