Yes, that's fine.  When the specification gives the current requirement, 300 milliamps in this case, that's the minimum current you should provide.  500 ma should be just fine.

That's not the case with voltage, however.  12-14 volts means 12-14 volts, no more, no less.

The Digitrax DS64 needs 12-14V DC 300ma. Is it ok if I use a 12V 500ma power supply? I will greatly appreciate anyone's input.
