I was wondering if anyone has had good/bad experiences with the Prodigy Advanced Wireless system?
I've used the "Express" DCC system on a small 3' x 7' layout and have been very happy with it. I'm currently in the planning stages of a 17' x 14' around the wall layout with a peninsula. I'd like to build on the MRC system, and was thinking that the wireless option would be less expensive for a larger layout than running multiple connectors around the layout to plug in the hand-helds.
Does this make sense?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!
I had a problem trying to respond to this post, that is why my first is blank. Got the problem figured out now.
I also started with the Express then upgraded to the Advance Squared.. Sold the Express to a friend, he use'e it to program his N scale engine's, it is easyer than his Atlas.
Then I upgraded to the wireless conversion. Going this direction it gave me 2 throttle's, at less cost than going with the true wirelss & an extra throttle, so if something was to happen to either throttle I have a backup, also if I want another opperator I have the extra throttle.
My layout is in a 13x15 room also with a peninsula. The wireless give's me alot of flexability to move about without haveing to unplug & replug. Also my workbench is in another room so I have it wired so I can take my wireless to the workbench & use it.
I have never had any problem's with any of my MRC system's. I really like the wireless.

Hi Kelley,
Welcome.
We run Prodigy and found that you can move from Base to Extension Plate on the other end of the layout, when I plugged in to the base with a lead where the tong had snapped off, then took off down the alley following the loco with the lead swinging in my hand. So I plugged it into the plate and halted the loco at the top off the spur, much to relief of it's owner who was having kittens as it was out of his reach.
Never had any real problems with the Prod and we run an 16ft by 8ft exhibition layout with up to 5 hand sets.
Wireless is ok if you're starting up but it costs packet to change to. Anyway, it's only money, I keep telling the boss, she says as long as I keep the volumes down it's ok.
Be in touch.
