I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this model that they can share? 1. Is it a good working model? 2. Would it be feasible to add sound to this unit and if so, what sound decoder would be recommended?

One fellow used an 821101, DSD-090 light steam stuck in the roof of the cab and I think a 1/2" speaker (810089) up against the fire box door! It can be done with a Tsunami MIcro. Piece of cake for those who know what they are doing.

I have one. wonderful locomotive!
I installed sound in it, using a ESU V4 micro that I placed in the cab behind the seats (fits perfectly).
I used two 1/2" speakers mounted in an Isobaric setup. It fits nicely as a replacement of the boiler inside the cab.
Not too difficult to install, just time consuming...... works like a dream, and the sound for the V4 is spectacularly good!!
