Most of the major manufacturers have a decoder selection chart of some sort on their web site. TCS goes them one better and has pictures of installations so you not only can find what decoder to use but actually see how it's installed.

Just a heads up, that will be a hard wire install for that loco, not a plug and play.

HeHeHeHe.... The LION usually finds his stuff in the garden next to the cord wood just west of the corn. Our power house is a treasure trove of ancient but usable stuff. LION found a big brass ammeter up there left over from the days when we generated electricity for the whole town. They all abandoned us as soon as MDU came and put in their wires. We were generating DC power. ☺

DCC is just like DC except that somebody grafted on and extra "C", sort of like a third chromosome or something. You can clip it off, and it will work fine on plain DC. I have never figured out why anybody would want DCC (just like I never figured out the big deal with AC current!) Our DC was good enough when they had nothing else in their houses!

The LION built his entire railroad with stuff that he found. And DCC is NOT on his horizon. Why bother... I can still only keep track of one train at a time.

The LION invented Analog Automation, now he runs eight to twelve trains at once, all making their proper stops and stuff, while the LION sits up in his tower watching. THAT is how to run a railroad!

As a prior note in this thread, manufacturers have websites that have lists, charts - here is a link to Soundtraxx for Walthers

If you Trainline GP9m is an older one without a DCC socket, here is a good install link from TCS, complete with pictures:
