Jason,
If you are wanting to get everything out of your MTH Mike and access all the CVs (configuration variables) then you'll need to purchase their DCS system. However, for what you mentioned, any DCC system will access those particular functions.
With that said and given the size of our layout, both the Digitrax Zephyr Xtra or the NCE Power Cab would serve you well.

I have a Athearns GP40-2 and a MTH Mikado I just bought .I am look at buying a good DCC controler for both.I was wondering what controler would be the best to get the most out of them.I know the MTH is mainly for the MTH models out there.I would like a controler that is for beginers as well as that would get mostly all of the MTHs functions like smoke, bells, whisles and smoke control.I am going to be converting over the GP40 here sooner or later to DCC.Please help me on this matter..Oh the scale I am going to be runnning is HO on a 4X8 sheet and maybe going to get bigger later on.
Thanks,
Jason
