Ever since I reset the decoder, its been working great. Who knows, maybe a stray electron. I wish it was a little louder, but I can't expect too much especially for its size.

gandydancer19 I'm sorry for your loss. Whoever recommended the MRC DCC system to you did not do you a favor. MRC was top of the line for DC power packs, but are way behind in DCC technology. Very few people here have an MRC DCC system, and most won't touch an MRC decoder because of the issues and problems they have. (We learned that from experience) If you don't get an answer here, it is not because we don't want to help, it's just that we don't have and use the system and don't know the answer. You may be better off contacting MRC directly if you don't get an answer soon.

His choice of DCC system has absolutely nothing to do with his problem. Although I would not get an MRC system because it would not suit my needs, it is still has pretty good system with quite a few satisfied users.
Changing to a long address should have no effecton sounds. The only CVs that get changed when goign to a long address are 17, 18, and 29. None of those has anything to do with the sounds. Be careful to follow the address changing procedure exactly and not accidently hit any additional keys or values other than the address you are trying to use.

I'm running an MRC Prodigy Express and a Kato SD70M. The SD70M has an MRC 1960 decoder with dcc / sound. I initially assigned it a four digit number to match the number on the locomotive. The locomotive worked great except for sound. The only sound I would hear was the horn. I then tried changing the address of the loco to 3 and only the horn sounded. I decided to do a reset of the decorder via CV# 125 to 1 and I have all the sounds now. My question is if I change the address to a four digit number, will I lose all the sounds again? Do I have to change a specific CV value when assigning a four digit number in order to get all of the sounds with this setup?
