We see this quite often here. What are The Powers To Be doing about taking care of this issue?

The, click on Tools, Compatability View is pretty lame. They should know the Male Species have trouble looking for and following instructions. Just make this site work without issues. Why try to drive new users away.

The cure for lurching locomotives upon set-out from stationary depends on the decoder.  If the decoder supports forward trim and other motor control CV's, as the Tsunami does, you have to...HAVE TO....!!! get into the manual and look up those CV's.  Then, once you understand what you must do, set about doing it methodically over the next 10 minutes.  That's about all it will take to find combinations of values in the two or three CV's that matter.

I have a Stealth version (meaning no decoder/sound) J Class 4-8-4 from BLI into which a friend placed a Tsunami and speaker.  I found it a bit jerky.  Someone posted here instructions for the higher CVs 209 and 210.  You start by ensuring CVs 2-4 inclusive have no value...set them at zero (0).

Then, start the engine with a single speed step (ensure the decoder is on 128 speed steps first).  Whether it moves or not is immaterial.

Next, and in sequence, enter CVs 209 and 210 and fiddle with values higher than about 25, the default set by the engineers...the real ones.  At some point, when you exit programming mode and start off with speed steps one, two, three, etc, you will find your loco much smoother.  I did this for the J and found it to suddenly become a refined beast.

All bets are off if you have a defective or misadjusted drive mechanism.

I had a Rivarossi Big Boy with a Tsunami decoder and it would 'lurch' just before stopping; going both forward and backward. I finally spoke with Soundtraxx and was told to reset the decoder to factory default settings and then go back and make my CV changes. I did this and it fixed the problem.
