The Pocket train arrived from J-land today, tested it with the B-mann pack, only took less than a 1/4 throttle is enough to power the train at scale speeds. Will check the volt-ometer tomorrow to make sure its less than 6 volts but I'm happy enough with the initial results I have ordered the second track set and another Pocket Line train from J-land (steam this time).

Can't wait to get started on the Microlayout Smile, Wink & Grin

Thanks I'll have to test the pack with the track in the way you prescribed. I will be adding a second loop so I should be able to use one pack for both loops. Its just a dsplay micro layout so that would work out well. Will post some pics of the micro as it comes together.

The info I could find on these Pocketline Kato's is that they're designed to operate with a controller wich works on 4 C batteries. So they're designed to work on 6 Volts DC.

Now,your Bachmann power supplies can deliver from 0 to 12 Volts DC(possibly up to 16V),depending on throttle settings. It will definitely power your small locos, but you should take care to not exceed 6 Volts. This is fairly easy though, take a voltmeter and read voltages as you turn the throttle knob, then having a pointer(piece of tape or whatever) on your power supply to indicate setting not to exceed. And 1/2 amp. is plenty too as long as you don't run too many locos at the same time. These power supplies are designed to run one loco (N and possibly HO) but these are so small that you may be able to run two or more.

Current is not brand sensitive,as long as the electrical specs are respected, your Bachmann will power your Kato locos just fine.

Bachman powerpack use with Japan Kato Products

Quick Basic Question, I am primarily in large scale but venturing into N.

I just picked up this Kato Pocketline set and Tomix Super-Mini trackset for a new 10" x 15" Microlayout I have in mind, these were purchased direct from Japan, I got the track but the Kato train is still in transit:

Now I know Tomix and Kato both have their own DC powerpack but the little blighters are a wee bit pricey, I have a couple basic Bachmann 1/2 Amp powerpacks laying around and I want to know if the US 110v pack will work with the Japanese version Kato line products line, I dont want to burn anything up accidentally. I think Japan is also 110v but I'm not sure, I am a true Luddite when it comes to electricity.

Thanks for any answers
