I've answered your other query....two things I find strange in your statement.First, the more power pick-up you have the better so having all wheel pick up is in fact most desirable.Unless the tender has been dismantled and not reassembled correctly,it's the best option.
Then,I'd be surprised (although possible) to learn that their factory installed decoders would be Digitrax,so I wonder why they'd be sent there for service.I don't know where Bachmann's decoders are from, but I have doubts about this.
Finally,I have one of these locos...though not a jewel,it is quite nicely detailed and is also running nice for the price.Keep in mind that these aren't "top of the line" engines, however,I like mine.
I am seeing several callenges other people are having with the Bachman N scale DCC locos......more specifically that when coupled with a "all wheel pick up tender", the loco doesn't seem to run correctly.
I have heard that the decoders are not working properly and that several have been sent away to Digitrax for re-fitting with their decoders.
Has anyone else heard of these challenges or had any problems with the Bachman line?
I am presently interested in a "4-8-2 Mountain Loco with Vanderbilt Tender" and the tender has "all wheel pickup"
Just looking for an opinion prior to making my initial purchase into the Steam class of locos.
thanx,
