Sorry I've not used Rivarossi locomotives for a long time, but one solution might be to get a rail wiper.  I installed some from Tomar on a Marx unit and they made all the difference in the world.

Rivarossi

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I need some advice on a Rivarossi 4/6/2

The loco runs very jerky and sometimes needs a push to start. I have done the normal service items. I believe the problem is electrical. The drive wheels only pick up elec on the back one. I checked my Rivarossi 4/6/4 and both the front and rear wheels pick up. Thanks in advance for helping.
